Over a decade ago, a few visionaries

development founded Zeta 3 Gestión de Proyectos OY, S.L. Today, Z3 is one of the
world’s leading international energy services companies specializing in
consulting in sustainable construction and LEED Certification, carbon
brokerage, on-site generation and investment management. We have provided
services to more than 200 projects in 50 countries around the world, and we are
now investing in clean energy projects throughout Latin America through the
Clean Tech Fund, a private equity fund for which we are General Partners and
Fund Manager.

Consulting
Z3’s consulting division, powered by a
staff of multilingual and multicultural engineers, economists and finance specialists,
is a leader devising cost-effective ways to implement clean and efficient
energy solutions. Following is a description of Z3’s consulting services.
Carbon Management: Z3 has staff located in key markets
throughout the world with the local knowledge and technical and financial
expertise to help clients comply with emissions regulations maximize sales of
carbon emissions reductions and ensure success managing carbon emissions risk.
Sustainable Design: Z3’s engineering team is a leading
provider of Sustainable design support services. Its recommendations have saved
millions of euros in operating costs and construction costs for buildings that
achieve high level of environmental sustainability.
Power Project Transaction Support: Z3 has extensive experience providing
financial analysis, due diligence, tailoring of innovative financing mechanisms
to specific projects, market assessments and support for developers working on
clean energy projects in international markets.
Institutional Program Support: Z3 assists governments and
international institutions in the design, and implementation of programs and
financial products aimed at increasing the dissemination of clean energy
technologies. Our experience includes design of loan guarantee programs, debt
facilities and carbon emissions purchase facilities. Z3 has advised clients on
programs resulting in more than €300 million in investment capital.
Carbon Brokerage.
Z3’s brokerage division is a leader in
advising clients in the purchase and sales of carbon. Our carbon management
personnel have real-time transactional and pricing information and
relationships with key participants in the market. We have developed and
advised clients on more than 50 emissions reductions projects in over 20
countries, totaling more than 20 million tons of CO2 equivalent.
On-Site Genaration
Z3 is a leader in providing on-site
energy generation services to industrial and commercial customers in Mexico.
Our services include: design, procurement, installation and operation and
maintenance of backup power and peak shaving power supply systems. In addition,
through our subsidiary in Mexico, we arrange financing for our customers in
Mexico.
Invesment Management.
Z3 provides investment management
services to institutional investors placing capital and Project developers
seeking capital, to support the construction and operation of clean energy
power projects. Z3 has substantial experience in providing screening, due
diligence and deal structuring for such projects internationally.
Accomplishments.
- Z3 consultancy services on
sustainability to METROVACESA, during design, construction and commissioning
for ALVENTO Business Park, an office campus of more than 30.000 m2 for letting
located in Madrid. It has achieved the LEED NCv2.0 SILVER international rating
certification. It is the first building in the European Union and in Spain to
win such an honour. LEED is the Green Building Council rating system that
refers to “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design”.
- Z3 acted as principal advisor to the
Corporación Andina de Fomento in the development of a €45 million carbon
purchase facility. The facility, known as the CAF-Netherlands Carbon Facility,
is designed to fund carbon emissions mitigation projects in Latin America, and
is managed by CAF’s Latin American Carbon Program.
- Z3 was awarded “Best CDM Project of
2004” at the Carbon Market Insight event in Amsterdam, in recognition of its
development of the first methodology analyzed by the Clean Development
Mechanism Executive Board. The methodology has been used by more than 30 sugar
mills worldwide.
- As one of the first consulting firms
operating in the GHG emissions business, Z3 was chosen by the World Bank to
provide design recommendations for the Prototype Carbon Fund, the world’s first
market-based funding mechanism dedicated to addressing climate change. The PCF
was first capitalized at $145 million and has since expanded considerably, and
has spawned several other carbon funds managed by the World Bank’s Carbon
Finance group.
